History: A fine example of Dutch transferware from the early 20th century, this sepia-toned commemorative saucer presents a dramatic scene of Voortrekkers on the move—wagons drawn into a laager, herders guiding oxen, and rugged mountain backdrops evoking the harsh beauty of South Africa's terrain. Produced by the renowned Petrus Regout & Co. under the De Sphinx mark in Maastricht, Holland, this piece likely dates to the 1920s–30s and was aimed at the South African heritage market.
