History: This figural porcelain wall plaque depicts a classical religious motif often referred to as the "Assumption of the Virgin," with the Virgin Mary surrounded by cherubs and ascending among clouds. The piece is made of bisque porcelain, a matte unglazed ceramic popular for religious and sentimental figurines in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The maker's mark, a "T & P" within a cartouche, is associated with several Thuringian porcelain factories, including Tiefenfurth and Pößneck firms, known to produce decorative bisque ware during this period. The impressed number "785" suggests it was part of a numbered production series.

Stylistically, this item shows elements of both Rococo revival and late Victorian religious art. The draping and fluttering garments, hand-painted floral motifs, and use of subtle gold trim all point to German manufacture between 1890 and 1920. The absence of high gloss further confirms it as bisque rather than glazed porcelain.

However, the condition does affect its value. Both arms of the central figure (Virgin Mary) are broken off, and there is notable soiling, especially in the crevices, indicating long-term display or storage without cleaning.

Due to its considerable size, intricate modelling, and sentimental/religious subject matter, this piece would still appeal to collectors of devotional antiques or German bisque, albeit at a reduced price due to the visible damage.

Flaws: Piece is incomplete, Missing hands and wings, Estimated Value: $150–$250 USD (due to condition)
