Name: Shelly " Springtime Petals"

Mark: Shelly - Shelly, Fine bone china, England

History: This is a Shelley fine bone china creamer featuring a vivid transfer print of cherry or apple blossom-like pink flowers with green foliage, highlighted with a pale-yellow ground and detailed green scrollwork near the gilt-trimmed rim. The handle is a soft green with a defined thumb spur, typical of Shelley’s elegant mid-century design.

The green shield-style mark reads “Shelley, Fine Bone China, England”, which dates this to approximately 1940–1966. Shelley used several variations of this backstamp; this one is consistent with the wartime and early post-war years, likely circa 1940–1950 based on both the typography and decorative style.

The floral motif and the delicately scalloped rim with gilt edge align with the Art Deco to early post-war transition in Shelley’s design aesthetic. The subtle green handle and the soft palette would have complemented matching tea services of the time.

The creamer appears in good condition with no evident cracks or chips. Some minor wear to the gilding is typical for age. The fine detailing on the flowers and leaves, as well as the scroll border, appears crisp and well-preserved.

Shelley ware continues to be popular among collectors, especially floral-decorated pieces. While not among Shelley’s rarest patterns, its condition, era, and desirable decoration place it in the $30–$45 USD range.
