History: This is a mid-20th-century English bone china plate featuring a scalloped rim and a hand-painted floral motif. The stylized orange shoots and soft green leaves give it a minimalist springtime charm that was popular in the post-war years. The base mark, simply reading “MADE IN ENGLAND BONE CHINA,” is typical of utilitarian export wares produced by various Staffordshire potteries from the 1940s to 1960s. While the maker is unconfirmed due to the generic backstamp, it’s consistent with wares from manufacturers like Roslyn, Duchess, or early Royal Vale output before individualized marks were standardized.

The plate’s condition shows some wear, particularly rubbing on the rim’s gilding and a few edge chips, which slightly reduce its collector value. Nonetheless, the hand-painted nature and charming botanical design keep it attractive for vintage tableware collectors or for decorative use.

Flaws: Faded gilt on the edges
