History: These two delicate porcelain dishes originate from the same pattern line — Silvana — produced by Alka Kunst Bavaria, a German porcelain manufacturer active in the mid-20th century. The mark on the reverse featuring a crowned script “alka” and “BAVARIA” indicates production during the post-war West German period, specifically between the 1950s and early 1960s, prior to the consolidation into Königszelt.

Both pieces are adorned with the same stylized floral decal: soft brown-beige foliage with pink highlights and fine gold detailing. The floral design is delicate and understated, in line with the clean elegance typical of Bavarian porcelain during the mid-century period. The square dish has additional gold flourish scrollwork on the corners, while the round saucer keeps a simpler gold rim.

The pieces are in very good vintage condition with no visible cracks or crazing. The crisp clarity of the decals and the undisturbed gilding suggests minimal use. Given their size and design, these dishes would have likely served as butter pats, small dessert or nut dishes, or individual sweetmeat bowls.

Though not highly rare, the Silvana pattern is now discontinued and collected by enthusiasts of mid-century European porcelain. Their appeal lies in their restrained aesthetic, fine quality, and signature Bavarian craftsmanship.
