Name: Ashley " Posy Patch" Type: Creamer jug Year: 1950s–1960s Set: No Mark: Ashley - Ashley Bone China History: The jug is marked "Ashley Bone China England" in a Gothic-style blue underglaze backstamp. Ashley Bone China was a trade name used by decorators and small potteries in the Staffordshire region of England, active primarily in the mid-20th century. These marks were often applied to undecorated blanks sourced from larger manufacturers, with the decoration added in-house. This creamer features two distinct multicoloured floral transfer patterns, one on each side. One side shows a composition led by a yellow central bloom, accented by small red, violet, blue, and orange flowers with green foliage. The reverse depicts a larger and more vibrant bouquet, anchored by a deep blue central flower surrounded by yellow, pink, red, and lavender blooms. The design is detailed with fine outlines and shading, a hallmark of post-war English transferware. The rim and handle are both trimmed in gold gilt, which shows light wear, particularly at the spout and handle tip. The jug has a rounded, squat profile with a wide mouth and defined spout. Its single handle is upright and triangular in form, joining neatly at the shoulder. The jug measures approximately 5.2 cm in height and 10 cm from spout to handle. Circa 1950s–1960s, based on the style of the backstamp, pattern, and form. The design fits well within the aesthetic preferences of mid-century English domestic porcelain, especially for export markets. Very good vintage condition overall. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing visible. The gilding shows moderate rubbing, especially at high-contact points such as the spout and handle. There is minor age-related discolouration around the handle joint, but the transfer prints remain vibrant and fully intact. The glaze is clean and evenly glossy. Flaws: None
