Name: Patterned Shakers Type: Greek Revival Salt & Pepper Shakers Year: 1960s–1980s Set: Yes (1x Salt & 1x PepperShaker) Mark: None - None History: This pair of ceramic salt and pepper shakers is modeled after Ancient Greek black-figure pottery, a classical art style originating in 6th-century BCE Athens. The design mimics Attic ware, featuring figures in profile: one with a detailed depiction of a Greek warrior in a chariot, the other showing a pair of horses and decorative palmette motifs on the reverse. The conical forms, black rims, and ochre-toned slip are common in souvenir recreations of Greek antiquities, especially those made for the tourist market from the mid-20th century onward. These pieces are functional collectibles, with perforated tops and stoppers (missing here) at the base. The execution is hand-applied, and the absence of maker’s marks or stamps is typical for export items made in Greece, often sold in museum shops or gift stores. Flaws: Some wear on the paint and stoppers
