History: Though no name of the pattern is listed, the se of iron red, cobalt blue, lime green and gilt is a hallmark of Imari designs, originally Japanese but heavily adapted by English potteries. This pattern is richly detailed and was likely intended for export or formal tea service. Royal Stafford produced many unnamed patterns, especially in this Imari style. The central plate features rust-orange scroll motifs, stylized green floral medallions and delicate red chain link swags. The border is deep cobalt blue and iron red florals framed with black scrolls and lime green flourishes. There are gilded accents throughout especially in the rim and detailing. This is a striking example of Royal Stafford China.
