Name: Grafton China "Maltese" Type: Trio Year: 1920-1930 Set: No Mark: Grafton China "Maltese" - A.B.J Crafton China , made in England "Maltese" History: This trio is made by B.J. Grafton China a lesser known but collectable pottery maker made in England. It’s a fine example of English domestic porcelain from the early 20th century, likely around 1920-1930 as the type of backstamp and lettering style was most common in that time. The design features hand painted blue forget-me-not style flowers with bright yellow scrolling foliage on a creamy white background. The scalloped edges of the plate and slight panelling give it a classic Deco silhouette. The number 6048 marked on the base may be a pattern decorators’ reference or factory batch code, often used alongside pattern names. This is a lovely representation of interwar British ceramics- bright, optimistic designs in fine bone china. Its appeal lies in its vibrant colour palette and hand painted charm- ideal for collectors of vintage English florals or unique hand decorated trios. Flaws: Slight crazing on the teacup handle, base and inner. Slight crazing and gentle yellowing on edges of side plate
