History: Featuring warm autumnal maple style leaves in sunset yellow, soft green, and orange-red berries, hand painted with visible brush strokes. The light brown tree branches and subtle ground shading at the base of the cup and lower rim of the plate suggest a seasonal woodland scene (not common in tea trios). This striking trio’s design with a handwritten decorator’s code makes it stand out among mid century English tea ware. The softly scalloped rim and flared teacup also point to a post Deco transitional style probably around 1940-1950. This set is a bit of a hidden gem, Grafton isn’t as mass marketed as Shelly or Paragon, so unique painted sets like this are prized for their individuality.
