Name: Royal Doulton "Cream Green" Type: Candle Holder Year: 1912–1920s Set: No Mark: Royal Doulton - Royal Doulton, England 03413 History: A tall, tapering Royal Doulton candlestick, crafted in glazed earthenware with a cream ground and deep green decorative detail. The square base flares gently into a rounded column, culminating in a square sconce with a recessed well. This form is particularly associated with early 20th-century Royal Doulton designs aimed at combining functional domestic ware with the artistic influence of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements. The surface is decorated with stylised foliate motifs arranged in vertical stripes, complemented by banded leaf-pattern borders to the top. The decoration appears hand-applied using a slip or stencil technique, characteristic of Royal Doulton’s Lambeth studio output during this period. The underside bears the printed Royal Doulton mark with a lion standing atop a crown—a mark in use from 1902 onward—along with the design number 13413, which corresponds to pattern documentation from the 1910s–1920s. Fine, even crazing is present throughout the glaze, enhancing the antique patina without compromising structural integrity. There are no chips or restorations visible. Flaws: Slight Crazing
