History: Presented here are two original vintage glass jar lids manufactured by the Consol Glass Company of South Africa, one in clear pressed glass and the other in opaline white milk glass. Both lids bear the raised script "Consol" at centre, flanked by "THIS SIDE UP" and the Afrikaans phrase "HIERDIE KANT BO", indicating bilingual functional use during the mid- to late 20th century.
 
 
These lids were made for household preserving jars and were designed for reusability, reflecting a time of economical and practical domestic ware. The Consol brand remains an iconic name in South African glass manufacturing, known for its durable and cleanly moulded products.
