Barely White

Barely White

$40.00Price
Name: Barely White

Type: Frosted Tulip-Form Glass Bowl

Year: Mid-20th Century (circa 1950s–1970s)

Set: No

Mark: None - Unknown (studio or factory glass, possibly European)

History: This striking frosted glass bowl is formed in the shape of a tulip or lotus bloom, with gently curved petals that flare outward to form the rim. The frosted satin finish and organic form are characteristic of mid-century art glass aesthetics, which embraced natural motifs and soft textures. Despite being unmarked, the clean pontil ring on the base and the subtle opacity suggest it was mould-blown with some hand-finishing.

The wear and small chips on the petal tips, visible in the close-up images, indicate moderate age and use, consistent with a utilitarian or decorative piece from the mid-20th century. The satin matte finish may also suggest influences from Scandinavian or Czech modernist glassmakers, although it lacks the crispness and form precision of known studio works like those from Holmegaard or Skrdlovice.
